The month of January has seemed to drag on for some reason. Am I the only one who feels that way? Do not get me wrong it isn’t that I did not enjoy the month because I very much did but for some reason, it just felt unusually long. Anyway, I figured I would start the new year with this little section called Beyond Books as a play on what one would see on Booktube with Monthly Favorites. I will use it as a diary type of deal where I add some of my favorite pictures from the month of things that have been going on and I hope to update it monthly. This section will include my favorite shows I have watched, most listened to music, gaming, adventures, etc.
This month has been a particularly cold one with temperatures being low and the wind chill or real feel being in the negatives. I am not complaining though because I very much prefer colder temperatures to hotter ones. I love the feeling of being snuggled up under some cozy blankets and reading, gaming or watching something on the tv.
I am happy to say that with the temperatures being ridiculously cold it has also led to some fluffy snow. This picture was taken the other morning right after we had a few inches dropped on us from the night before. I just love how moody the sky looks and how cold the landscape appears.
I received this book from my husband for Christmas and I devoured it. He knows how much I love Nora Roberts and lucky for me she just released book one in her new series The Lost Bride Trilogy. If you are a fan of Nora Roberts then please pick this one up it was so good. You can read my review under book reviews. The blanket that you see me snuggled up in is super cozy and one I received at Christmas from a family member. It has just the right amount of fluff and fuz to make it irresistible besides the bears on it are super cute.
Another gift that I received from my husband over Christmas was Fae Farm. I have never been a huge gamer and as a kid my mother was strict on how much time we spent in front of the tv watching shows and playing video games. My husband on the other is a huge gamer and always has been so needless to say our teenage son is as well. I always felt a bit left out on this but nothing really perked my interest until March of 2020 with Animal Crossing New Horizons releasing. I received that over Mother’s Day of that year and the cozy gaming vibes we for real. From there I have discovered Stardew Valley and Disney Dreamlight Valley which I love. Recently however I noticed that Fae Farm hit the scene and I was captivated by it. I so desperately wanted to play it but did not want to spend the money on it so I never bought it. Lucky for me that Troy (my hubby) was paying attention because I got it Christmas morning. I have been obsessed with it ever since. Now remember I didn’t grow up a gamer so my skills are not fantastic but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the game. If you love cozy gaming with Tinker Bell vibes than I think it could be for you.
So enough about the weather and enough about gaming and reading let me talk to you about a show that we have recently watched. Granted this is not a new show to us but the new season recently came out so of course we had to gobble it up. The show is All Creatures Great and Small and the cozy vibes are top notch. When I was a young girl my mom and I used to watch this show (an older version) along with other shows like The Waltons and Little House On The Prairie. The thing I love about shows such as these are the sense of family and a simpler time. My mom has long since passed away but I have found over the years going back to shows such as these make me feel a bit closer to her. So when the new season of All Creatures Great and Small came out I was completely game to snuggle down and dive in. Spoiler I am so glad I did because it was a wonderful season and I am eager for the next season.
I am not sure if I have ever mentioned this before but I am someone who absolutely loves watching the birds. In my yard I keep feeders up all year long because I worry the yearly birds won’t find food especially where I live with the snow and the cold. The problem however with having feeders up is sometimes when the birds are leaving the suet feeder which I keep on my deck they mistake my living room for open sky and well crash into it. Most times the birds are fine and shake off the stunned feeling from the collision with the exception of a small bluejay over the summer. The poor baby hit the window so hard and did not make it. I was devastated. So yesterday when I baby woodpecker hit my living room window I panicked. He landed on the table on my deck in a pile of snow and just looked so pitiful. I grabbed a towel and raced out my front door to wrap him up. I brought him inside due to the negative temperatures outside and called Troy to fill him in on what happened. Well this could have been a bit of a mistake because while I was on the phone the little bird managed to escape the towel and took flight into my kitchen. Needless to say I told Troy I had to go due to the said bird flying around and I got to work catching the little guy. I am happy to say that once caught I placed him outside on the deck and he took flight. Later that day a little woodpecker came to the suet feeder and I am really hoping it was the one who took flight in my kitchen hours before.
This is not all that went down over the month but just a snap shot into my life and one I hope you enjoyed seeing it. There was also lots of cooking that went on, cleaning and walks not to mention getting my TeaTimeThoughts Blog transferred over to this one and posting more Youtube Videos. I am hoping next month will be filled with many pleasant memories and I wish the same for you Reader. Please tell me have you read, watched or played anything I have mentioned above? What have you enjoyed most from you January? Until next time I hope you are well and enjoying your current season.
