A refreshingly modern fairy tale and instant New York Times bestseller that Love Hypothesis author Ali Hazelwood hails as "an uplifting, feel-good, romantic read."

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

"Abby Jimenez’s words are like fairy dust... they sprinkled humor and warmth all over my life. Pick up Part of Your World if you’re looking for an uplifting, feel-good, romantic read—and for a beautiful reminder that we should always try to live the life that makes us the happiest." --Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis

My Review

I received this as one of my Book Of The Month picks back in May 2022 and I am so glad I chose it. You know you are in for a good book when the first chapter makes you laugh out loud. This is the story of an ER doctor who gets a flat tire on her way home from a funeral in a small town after a breakup with her long-time boyfriend. A polite good looking guy with a dog stops to help her out and from there I bet you can guess what happens. This story though is so much more than a rom-com it honestly made me laugh out loud, cry, and sometimes both at the same time. This book really and truly gave me all the feels.

This story deals with the pressure of family, wealth, legacy, and emotional abuse for one character while the other character deals with money problems, the responsibility of running a business, and dealing with a drug-addicted parent. Not to mention that some of the side characters are dealing with their own troubles such as depression, PTSD, infidelity, and domestic violence. As I have said this story is packed with so much stuff that it truly is so much more than just a light and fluffy rom-com. Abby Jimenez also has a way of developing her characters so that you can not help but feel for them. I found myself rooting for both Alexis and Daniel throughout the whole story. Reading about these characters and their struggles really makes you stop and examine some of your own struggles or at least it did for me. You know it is a good book when it has the ability to make you think beyond the story and about your own life.

If you do not already know based on my review I highly recommend this book. It would not be right though if I did not mention that there are some serious trigger warnings in this story because like I said it is not all light and fluffy as the cover may appear. The trigger warnings will be listed below so please read with care if you decide to pick this book up.

Trigger Warnings:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Emotional Abuse
  • Poverty
  • PTSD
  • Depression
  • Drug Addiction
  • Talk of Death
  • Parental Neglect
  • Infidelity
  • Family Pressures

My favorite quote from the book was ” Grace costs you nothing” which was first said by Daniel in the story. I found this to be such a great reminder and wisdom to live by.
